Ruthie was born in Argentina where her parents were studying for missionary work. She came to know the Lord personally at an early age and always had a desire to serve Him.

After Bible school, while working in Oregon, she felt the Lord calling her to Brazil to teach her sister's children. It was during her second year there that the Lord placed on her heart the desire to work with the deaf of Brazil. There she served among the deaf of Brazil in teaching Brazilian sign language and evangelism. She worked with a deaf church that was inaugurated in 1997. There she served in many capacities as one of the main leaders alongside her co-partner, Claudia Nicia Ferreira, and missionaries Doug and Renate Reiner.

After 23 years of ministry among the deaf and children in the Sao Francisco Vale of Juazeiro and Petrolina, Ruthie relocated to Crato in order to have a larger team that can help correct the EBEC curriculum, as well as to pursue outreach to the deaf. She and Claudia are in the process of writing a four year children's curriculum (Evangelizing School for Children) to serve the churches in reaching the children of Brazil with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Presently there are 15 churches that have been using the EBEC curriculum, reaching around 1000 children in Northeast Brazil. Ruthie and Claudia are also giving training sessions to the churches interested in adopting the program and challenge the area churchesto have a heart for missions - especially toward the five countries in Africa that speak Portuguese.
