Youth Rec Basketball

December-February

SPARC Youth Rec Basketball is a developmental basketball league designed to teach young athletes the fundamentals of basketball through practice and organized games. This league is open to boys and girls in grades K-8 of any skill level. From beginner to advanced, we are a rec league open to all stages of development. Kids will not be turned away because of their skill.

To place players on teams, there will be a player draft following evaluations. The player evaluation is November 2nd.  All registered players, except for K-2nd grade, will participate in an organized practice for evaluation. It is not a tryout, as all registered players will be drafted to a team.  Players unable to attend the evaluation or late registrations will be placed on a team at the directors discretion.

Player Evaluation Day on Nov. 2nd in the Ryan Athletic Center:

         Grades 3-4 — 10:15am-11:00am

         Grades 5-8 — 11:15am-12:00pm

Different teams will practice either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday for one hour between 4pm-8pm depending on the coach and team. Starting the first week of December, teams will be able to practice once a week on the outdoor courts (Don Palmer courts) on the campus of SMCC. Games are scheduled for Saturdays between 8am-3pm starting in January. The season will include playoffs for grades 3-8 and will conclude by the first weekend in March. Each division will play at different times on Saturday mornings. The games will be played in the Ryan Athletic Center (RAC) on the campus of SMCC. A complete game schedule will be available prior to the start of the season.

The SPARC Youth Rec Basketball costs $125, which covers referee, jersey, admin and equipment fees.

Registration for the 2024-2025 season is now open!

Men's Basketball

March-June

The Sports and Recreation (SPARC) Ministry at Shadow Mountain is excited to offer Men's Basketball for ages 18 and up (post high school) from March to June with 3 different levels of competition available. Games are scheduled to begin Monday nights on March 17th between 6-10pm. All the games will be played in the Ryan Athletic Center (RAC) on the campus of Shadow Mountain Community Church (SMCC). Each game will have two officials and scorekeepers. Teams will receive reversible jerseys as part of the league costs.

What are the differences between the A, B & C divisions?

The A division is our most competitive and talented division.  The B division is highly competitive, but less talented.  The C division is for those looking to play in an organized and competitive league, but don't feel they can compete with the talent in the B division.

How will each team be placed in a division?

There will be one pre-season game to determine team divisions.  When you register a team you can select your desired division.  There will be one preseason game where teams will be matched up according to their desired league play.  Following that night each team will be placed in a division determined by the league director with the regular season beginning the following week.

How many players can I have on my team?

The maximum amount of players for each team is 12.  Exceptions can be made to avoid a forfeit for a single game.  Players must play in 3 regular season games to be eligible for playoffs.

Can I join the league if I don't have a team?

You can register as an individual free agent and if a team is looking for an additional player we will contact you.

Registration for the 2025 season will open in the Spring 2025.
