Prison Ministry

The Prison Ministry, since its inception in July 2003, ministers to all those impacted by incarceration: inmates, parolees and ex-offenders, spouses, family members, children of inmates (Angel Tree kids), and first responders such as correctional officers, prison staff, and police officers. The “P” in “prison” stands for “people”, and the vision of the SMCC Prison Ministry is to touch as many as possible with the love of Christ and His saving grace. The Prison Ministry is open to both men and women. It is an opportunity to stretch your faith and be a source of real blessing and encouragement to men, women, and children who have been affected by crime. This is also a ministry which touches close to home, as there our many families within our own fellowship who have loved ones that are incarcerated. All ministry members undergo appropriate orientation, training, and background checks as mandated by the State Prison System. Additional training is given in areas that affect ministry outside the Prison System.

Monday evening meetings in Room 210, Generations Building, 2nd Floor

On the 1st Monday night of the month from 6-7p, join us for our monthly prayer meeting to help encourage and minister to all those impacted by incarceration. Prayer is the key to the ministry being blessed by God and Moving Forward with Him. Family Dessert fellowship is from 7-8:30p. This meeting is for anyone who is struggling with a loved one incarcerated or who has been incarcerated. To come alongside those who need encouragement and to answer any questions they might have with dealing with loved ones behind the walls.

The 3rd Monday night of the month from 7-8:30p is our Team & New Volunteer Orientation Meeting. We urge all those who are currently involved as a “Team Member” with the SMCC Prison Ministry to attend this vital meeting to help stay connected with what God is doing and meeting new volunteers who want to know how they can get involved. If you are a person who is interested in becoming a part of the SMCC Prison Ministry, or just want to find out more about the Ministry, this is the meeting to attend. You will get a chance to interact with many current Team Members who can share with you all that is taking place and listen in as they plan future outreaches to those impacted by incarceration. This will help you greatly to decide if this is where God wants you to serve.

Watchman on the wall

The purpose of the Watchman on the Wall Ministry is to enlist and support prayer warriors who will commit to dedicate one hour each week to pray for the Shadow Mountain Ministries. Our prayer ministry is divided into four "Walls" (North, East, South, and West). Each wall consists of 168 positions, one for each hour of the day, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Each participant is assigned a position that corresponds with a one-hour time slot on one of the walls that fits with their schedule and agrees to pray for the Shadow Mountain Ministries during that hour. At the conclusion of his or her prayer time, each participant calls the prayer warrior assigned to the next hour and "hands off the watch". A person's hour on the "Wall" is spent in the privacy of their home, office, or wherever they choose. There are no meetings or other commitments other than spending one hour weekly praying for the Shadow Mountain Ministries.

Each month the Watchman Alert is sent to each participant by email or by US Mail. This prayer letter lists current prayer and praise items for the different ministries of the church. Ample information is provided to fill one hour on the "Wall".

If you would like to join the Watchman on the Wall program or to change your existing preferences, please review the available times by clicking on Watchman Wall Chart. Note your desired time, return to this page and click on Watchman on the Wall Registration. Enter the required information and click on submit at the bottom of the form.

Toy Soldiers

This ministry facilitates wonderful fellowship, and opportunities for Bible study and devotions, as well as mentoring and teaching the young men and women of the church. The Toy Soldier Ministry also serves as a support to other ministries within our local church body, specifically, Prison Ministry Fellowship, AWANA, and Christian Education.
